Femi Osibona, owner of Fourscore Homes, the company in charge of the 21-storey building that collapsed in the Ikoyi area of Lagos state, has been found dead.

According to The Cable, an official of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), confirmed the development, stating that rescue workers recovered Osibona’s body on Thursday evening, 4 November.

There were several security operatives on ground, as the ministry of health conveyed his body away from the site.

The building located at 20 Gerrard Road collapsed around 2:00 p.m. on Monday while workers were working at the site.

There is still no official figure of how many people were in the building when the structure collapsed.

Meanwhile, as of Thursday afternoon, NEMA had recovered 38 bodies, with rescue workers still searching for more survivors.

Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu inaugurated a six-man panel of inquiry to investigate the cause of the collapse.

As part of its job, the panel will also ascertain whether the developer, contractor, and statutory regulatory agencies compromise on the building codes.

The name of members of the probe panel was released at the scene of the incident by Sanwo-Olu, with the list comprising a professional builder, town planner, structural engineer, and legal practitioner, all from the private sector.
