Some years ago precisely in December 2017, former Governor of Imo State in the person of Rochas Okorocha appointed Mrs. Ogechi Ololo as the state’s foremost commissioner of Happiness and Purpose Fulfilment. Mrs. Ogechi Ololo holds a Masters degree in computer science from the United States of America and served as the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor on domestic matters.
The novel portfolio before now, has never been heard of in Nigeria, although the portfolio exist in countries like Venezuela and United Arab Emirates. In a statement released by the Governor, he said the sole purpose of creating such portfolio in the State, was to guide the departments and ministries in the State on what they need to do to ensure the people of the State are happy.
Despite the good intention of the Governor, they were mixed feelings and widespread criticism by Nigerians concerning the creation of such ministry in the state.
Unlike her counterpart in United Arab Emirates who is busy developing policies, programs and initiatives for the optimal happiness of the people in the country, she has a lot to learn from these countries.
Do you think the people of Imo State are more happier now, prior to the creation of the ministry?
