As part of advance activities to mark the 55th anniversary of robust relationship between Nigeria and Venezuela, officials of the top leadership of the Nigeria-Venezuela Friendship Club (NIVEFIC) are to be inaugurated to pilot the affairs of the organisation for the next three years.
Addressing journalists on the forthcoming chain of events in Abuja yesterday, Ms. Nafisat Alhassan, Deputy Head of Secretariat of NIVEFIC, said the Grand Reception/Ceremony of Honour for Ambassador D. N. C. Velasquez and other foreign ambassadors serving in Nigeria holds at the African First Ladies Mission hall, CBD, Abuja on Thursday, 12th March, 2020 at 10.00am.
According to her, the pro-active envoy of Venezuela, His Excellency, Ambassador D. N. C. Velasquez will perform the inauguration of the top leadership of the organisation, which include a president, six deputy vice-presidents and twenty portfolio directors as well as the patrons.
Alhassan added that Amb. Velasquez will also present merit awards to four serving ministers and other personalities including the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Adamu, the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire; the chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCom), Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa; the Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe and the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Garba Abari that have worked hard in boosting relations between the two countries and played prominent roles in protecting the lives and investments of foreign citizens resident in Nigeria.
She explained that four Hon. Ministers in Nigeria such as Mr. Geoffrey Onyema, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, MFR; and Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq would be inducted as patrons of NIVEFIC and conferred with merit awards at the event to encourage them to offer more services towards cementing the bond between both nations.
During the ceremony, special programmes known as Explore Venezuela and Global Evangelical Mission (GEM) are also to be launched for the benefit of the business community and members of the clergy and their churches.
Top officers for inauguration are Dr. Barika Dominic Saro-Laka, JP, who is a Visiting Associate Professor of Mass Communication as president; Mr. Tunde Thani, Deputy President, South-West Region; Mr. Idris Yahaya, Deputy President, North-Central Region; Amb. Mrs. Mercy Ajuka Gani, JP, Deputy President, South-South Region; Chief Mrs. Grace Opara, Deputy President, South-East Region; Mr. Bitrus Daniel Kozah, Deputy President, North-West Region and Mrs. Mercy Musa Gana as Deputy President of the North-East Region.
Other key personalities that are part of the top executive leadership for inauguration include Apostle Franklin Aguisiy, Executive Director for Special Duties; Mr. Wabari Job Wallah, Executive Director for Entrepreneurship and Investment; Mr. Huleji Emmanuel Daudu, Executive Director for Social Media and Publicity; Mr. Shedrach Eteng Oka, Executive Director of Strategic Planning and Public Affairs; Mrs. Catherine Olottah, JP, ESV; Executive Director for Government Liaison; Dr. Collins Uche Ewa, Executive Director for Medical Services; Mr. Samson Kworiya, Executive Director of Administration; Rev. Speaking to journalists, Ambassador D. N. C. Velasquez, said he cherishes the working partnership between his Embassy and The Mighty One Empowerment Foundation (TEMOEFA), a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that is organising and sponsoring the forthcoming Ceremony of Honour/Grand Reception for him and twenty two (22) other foreign ambassadors resident in Nigeria.
He promised to do everything within his powers to boost and consolidate on the good relations between Venezuela and Nigeria in order to spark off an increase in the mutual benefits for both parties, adding that the bond of relationship would be strengthened for the good and betterment of all.
The senior envoy expressed gratitude to TEMOEFA for the multi-facet initiatives to be flagged-off on that day, stressing that the Embassy of Venezuela in Nigeria fully endorse the idea of the friendship club and would give it the needed support to work as its active partner in achieving set goals.
The ceremony will also witness cultural dances from Anieze Women Cultural Group from Enugu State as well as the presentation of scholarship opportunities to some students and support funds to some micro and small business operators.
