Laura Whitmore is reportedly set to sign a sign £1million deal with ITV to host the next two series of Love Island.

The Irish presenter, 34, stood in for the late Caroline Flack – who sadly took her own life last month – to front the hit show’s first-ever winter edition in January, with viewers praising her ‘professionalism’ in light of her friend’s tragic death.

Producers were said to be impressed by Laura’s debut stint on the dating series and are expected to her sign off her salary package in the coming weeks.

An insider said: ‘The producers knew straight away they wanted her back. She’s a real professional, with a easy camera manner, and they love the combination of her hosting with her boyfriend — Iain Stirling — providing commentary.

‘Her team at M&C Saatchi have more meetings with Love Island boss Richard Cowles in the diary and have laid out a deal to put to them for approval.’

The source added to The Sun: ‘The package is worth £1million, which includes Laura’s salary and expenses for both the summer series of Love Island this year and the winter series next year. It is expected to be signed off in the coming weeks.’

MailOnline has contacted Laura’s representatives and an ITV spokesperson for further comment.

Before her passing, erstwhile host Caroline was given a £1.2 million deal to host twoU seasons of the show a year.

She decided to stand down just four days after she was charged with assault following a row with boyfriend Lewis Burton at her home.

When Laura announced she’d be taking over the role in late December, she took to Instagram with a snap of a water bottle adorned with her name – one of the hallmarks of the show and a prop given to all contestants.

Referencing both her friendship with Caroline and the host’s efforts to get her the job, Laura said in her statement: ‘To say I’m excited to be heading to Cape Town to host Love Island, the biggest show on television, is an understatement…

‘I want to thank ITV for trusting me at the helm of this huge show. I wish it was in better circumstances; Caroline is a brilliant host and also a friend.

‘We’ve spoken a lot in the last few days since she stepped down. She has been very kind to me and strongly pushed me for this role. I’ve watched her host every series and know I have big boots to fill. I will try and do it justice…

‘Above all, I am a massive fan of this show. I’ve never been to a Love Island villa, and I can’t wait to get in there to meet all the new Islanders looking for love.’

‘The Love Island team are the best in the business… including the voice and heart of the show, Iain. He thought he was getting a holiday away from me… not a chance!’

A social media influencer is reportedly lined-up to star in the upcoming edition of the show.

Nikita Rai, 24, was said to have been considered as a Casa Amor bombshell for the winter season, but producers are now keen for her to feature as a main cast member on the seventh series.

The British-Indian beauty boasts a whopping 91,000 followers on her Instagram account and has described herself as an ambassador for lingerie brand Boux Avenue and cosmetics company Colour Pop.

The online sensation from Bedfordshire, who recently created a YouTube channel, garners thousands of likes for her sizzling bikini and underwear snaps.

A source told The Mirror: ‘Nikita was initially lined up for the winter series as a bombshell, however the producers believe she would be better suited for the summer series as they’ve not yet had anyone like her in the original line up before.

‘She is extremely excited to be taking part in the show and the producers are certain she will be a perfect fit with the nature of Love Island.’

Nikita, who often goes by Nikki, will no doubt be keen to follow in the footsteps of Paige Turley, who was crowned the winner of the sixth series alongside boyfriend Finley Tapp.

A Love Island spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘Any names are pure speculation and the line up will not be announced until closer to transmission.’
