Boko Haram insurgents once again attacked Borno state Governor Babagana Zulum’s convoy, on Sunday morning.
The attack occurred on route to Maiduguri, the State Capital of Borno, and was the second attempt, in less than 48 hours on the Governors motorcade.
Previously on Friday , Boko Haram killed 30 persons including security personnel during attack on Governor Zulum’s convoy along Monguno-Baga Road.
No casualty was recorded in the second incident.
Some of the individuals that returned with the governor to Maiduguri confirmed the attack to journalists, saying the incident happened two kilometres from Baga.
Member of the Government team stated,
“The military gun truck was also shot at and a soldier had his shoulder scalded with a gunshot.”
Although, “There was no death recorded this time around except for some minor injuries. The windscreen of some vehicles was shattered. Some vehicles had their tyres destroyed by gunshots, including the Government House Press Crew bus”.
This auxiliary ambush comes as a retaliation to Zulum and the Borno state government’s efforts to return Internally displaced persons IDP’s back to their communities, liberated from Boko Haram violence and influence.
